More Than a Conqueror

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (I Peter 5:8-9)

The Bible warns us that the devil walks about like a lion stalking its prey. The Bible admonishes us to resist the devil by using our faith. We are promised in the Word that we have already been made more than conquerors through Christ. It is only through Christ that we are assured of victory over all the attacks of the devil. There are various weapons the devil uses, but the Bible promises that not one of them will be successful.

One of the weapons that the devil uses is delays. He tries to abort or postpone your miracle, knowing that his delays will weaken your faith and desire. Another weapon is deceit, as he tries to get you to believe his lies about your circumstances and future. We are to remember that the devil is the father of lies and that there is absolutely no truth in him. One of the devil’s favorite weapons is distractions. He tries to break your focus through things such as unproductive friendships, unworthy criticism, and unexpected negative circumstances. Take heed to Proverbs 4:27 which says, Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil. Realize, not everyone is qualified to be in a relationship with you, nor do they deserve your time.

Remember, the Word of God says that you are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. The Bible says that the attacks of the devil will never be successful against the purposes of God for your life. Regardless of what weapon the devil has tried, or is trying to use against you today, let the Word of God encourage you. In Isaiah 54:17 we read, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me.” Says the Lord.

  1. We often forget the devil’s presence. His desire to attack God’s children. He sees a “two for one” opportunity.

Thank you for the reminder from God’s word.

Have a great trip to Africa!
